I want to go. That is all.
Okay. Maybe not all. This lineup is stocked with a diversity of talent. Tickets aren't even all
that pricey. You can purchase them now in advance for around $190, which covers the entire three day festival out in Chicago's Grant Park, which in the summer is anything if not gorgeous, and in light of our recent political changes quite the fitting place for (further) celebration in spite of the general disquietude of the times.
One of the great thing about festivals like this, of this magnitude and scope, is you're almost guaranteed to leave having discovered one, two, if not a handful of new artists you may not have ever heard of before or even in the future, given the dismembered and dysfunctional state of mainstream music and radio these days.
And as is the case with any large lineup, I'm currently looking up every artist on this year's schedule whom I'm not aware of and purchasing songs. So far so good. Alas, with finances looking bleak and with an already time-handicapped summer - I've got to start thinking about moving all too soon - reality speaks to me with a level-headed voice and it tells me attending this festival will not be feasible. Nevertheless, I'll benefit from it all the same. Besides, San Francisco is loaded with quality shows on a regular basis that will compensate.
